The Ministry of Home Affairs had ordered last month that when a differently-abled person goes to the movie theatre, he/she need not stand up, if he is incapable to stand. “However, the person must show such conduct which is commensurate with respect for the national anthem”, the advisory reads. A lot of uproar has happened since then. The parents of children with autism and other mental disorders have strongly voiced their opinions against the direction, saying that it’s not possible to control behavior patterns and the order must be repealed. Some activists have, however, come out in total support of the order and have maintained that this will help instil patriotic values among all. What are your views?
