Guwahati: More than 5000 women across age groups and from different segments of the society participated in the 3 km, 5 km, 10 km all-woman marathon in Guwahati.
‘Pinkathon – Empowering Indian Woman’ was flagged off by its founder, supermodel and fitness enthusiast Milind Soman at Sonaran High School playground in Guwahati.
The marathon saw participation from a group of visually impaired and hearing impaired girls.
The marathon, that also promotes awareness about breast cancer, saw participation from cancer survivors as well.
The participants came from diverse age groups and from young girls to grandmothers, all ran for the cause.

Talking about his initiative, Mr Soman said, “This is more than a marathon. It is the seed for change and the beginning of a movement carried forward by a growing community of empowered women across India who share a belief that a healthy family, a healthy nation and a healthy world begins with empowered women.”
