Jaipur: On the occasion of National Girl Child Day, three girls from Rajasthan donned the hats of ministers, approved schemes, raised the issue of child marriage and took charge of the state women and child development minister Anita Bhadel’s post for a day.
The three girls, Jashoda Gameti of Rajsmand, Sona Bairwa of Tonk and Preeti Kanwar Rajawat, were conferred Garima Balika Sanrakshan Samman and also made one-day child ministers by Ms Bhadel.
After taking charge, the girls approved the scheme of distributing 10,500 mobile phones to Aanganwadi workers and iPads to 282 women supervisors.
Ms Bhadel apprised the one-day child ministers about the functioning of the ministry and the girls also got a chance to voice their opinion against child marriages.
“We wanted to give a message that girls are no less than boys. If they are given freedom then they can fly high,” Ms Bhadel said.
She further said that society should provide girls with equal opportunities to grow as it would help them gain confidence.
Ms Bhadel said that through various schemes, the state government has been trying to uplift girls and working towards changing the society’s mind-set towards girl child.
Kuldeep Ranka, secretary for women and child development department, Samit Sharma, director of integrated child development services and representatives from non-profit organisations were also present on the occasion.
